Self Portrait At 28

You see, his mind can only hold one thought at a time
and when he finally hears me call his name
he looks up and cocks his head
and for a single moment
my voice is everything:

The end of David Berman's poem Self Portrait At 28, from his book of poems Actual Air. Like another blogger mentions here, its about a dog's one-track-mind, the ability to live in the moment, and the joy of exploration. And its  just beautiful.
